In a world that’s always in a rush and people have little time to show kindness to those in need, it’s really special to see moments of real compassion when it does take place.
In a touching and heartwarming gesture, a Malaysian ice cream seller is spreading kindness by offering free ice cream to customers with disabilities to honor his late son who was disabled too.
M’sian vendor hands free ice cream to disabled customers
This heartwarming gesture was captured in a TikTok video posted by a netizen named Rui Mei.
In the clip, she’s seen approaching an ice cream vendor in Bagan Ajam, Penang as she was curious about the ‘Free for the disabled’ sign attached to his motorbike.
According to the vendor, those with disabilities get to enjoy ice cream for free, whereas the able bodied only need to spend a maximum of RM4.
Wanted to remember disabled son who passed away
When asked what was the reason behind giving free ice cream to the disabled, the vendor said he was inspired by his OKU son, who had unfortunately passed away.
He also added that as the sole breadwinner of the family, he began selling ice cream to support his wife and newborn child as well as supplement his meagre earnings as a train worker.
Touched by his story, Rui Mei offered to buy 50 ice creams and offered it to the other kids at the area as well, who gladly received the treat with wide smiles on their faces.
Netizens teary-eyed by clip
The video, which has since garnered over 2.4 million views, saw hundreds of comments from netizens who were deeply touched by it.
They also praised the vendor’s generosity as well as Rui Mei for her kindness.
