In a devastating incident that occurred yesterday, a 23-year-old woman, identified as a student of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), fell from the fourth floor of a condominium in Shah Alam, resulting in her untimely demise.
The incident is believed to have taken place at approximately 5:47 pm.
UiTM Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Rozia Mohd. Janor, confirmed the victim’s identity, revealing that she was a fifth-semester student at the Kolej Alam Bina Shah Alam campus who rented a residence outside the campus.
According to a report by Kosmo, the news of the tragic incident reached UiTM officials yesterday afternoon, prompting them to inform the victim’s family, who were already at the hospital.
Expressing deep condolences, Professor Datuk Dr Rozia Mohd. Janor stated that UiTM has also notified the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) about the incident, ensuring that necessary measures are taken.
However, she urged the public to refrain from speculating about the incident, as the police are currently conducting an investigation.
In a show of support, UiTM will be providing financial assistance of RM10,000 to the victim’s family and offering counselling services to help them navigate through this tragic loss.
Additionally, the university will facilitate the funeral process by arranging for a hearse.
Preliminary investigations
Preliminary investigations conducted by Deputy Police Chief of Shah Alam District, Superintendent Ramsay anak Embol, suggest that the victim had been dealing with emotional stress and receiving treatment for mental illness.
Superintendent Ramsay anak Embol further stated that there were no indications of any criminal elements at the scene.
The case is currently classified as a sudden death, and the victim’s body has been sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
