While making a grammatical mistake every now and then is not a big deal, sometimes it can backfire massively if the mistake is made on a poster for an official event.
A local university has become the subject of mockery after a glaring grammatical mistake was spotted on a poster for an event, sparking a wave of humourous criticism from netizens.
‘Are you have a stress?’
In a tweet shared by @naimleigh on Wednesday (Apr 5), it showed an event poster by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), where it was intended to spread awareness about the event aimed at reducing stress through a variety of activities.
Unfortunately, all attention instead diverted to a huge grammatical mistake made in the event name itself, where it was written as “Are You Have A Stress?”
To further add on to the embarrassing blunder, another grammatical mistake was also spotted by sharp-eyed netizens in the list of activities, where ‘Doodle Art’ was misspelt as ‘Doddle Art’.
Netizens ‘stressed out’ by poster
The tweet has since been viewed more than 580,000 times and garnered over 2,200 likes at the time of writing, where netizens were absolutely mind-boggled by the lack of thought given to ensure the poster’s grammar was correct.
One commented: “They certainly belong to the gang (that makes grammatical mistakes) of ‘Its mean’, ‘I’m agree’, ‘Thats mean’, ‘I dah sent email’, ‘applied kerja’, ‘next weeks’.”
Another joked: “This is all advertising. You weren’t stressed at the beginning, but now you are after seeing the poster.”
Another netizen even took the opportunity to insert a plug-in to promote his English tutoring classes, adding that freebies would be given out too! #marketing101
Intentional or not, that was certainly very embarrassing! We hope the university will take note and be more careful next time!
