M’sian Travels Solo To Over 50 Countries, Says M’sia Is Still Her Country Of Choice To Live In

No place like Malaysia.
Which country do you wish to live in? And what are your thoughts about living in Malaysia?

A Malaysian woman known as Nola, who has travelled solo to more than 50 countries worldwide, recently shared on social media why she believes Malaysia stands out among the many destinations she has explored.

Food & public transport

For Nola, nothing compares to Malaysia’s food scene. From nasi lemak and local favourites to Japanese sushi, Middle Eastern grills, and even Western bites — the sheer variety available here is something she says is rare overseas, where many countries only focus on local cuisine.

She also praised Malaysia’s public transport system, describing it as well-connected, clean, and affordable. Another underrated perk?

Air-conditioned comfort everywhere — from malls and hotels to buses and trains — which she notes is not a given in many parts of the world.

Cleanliness

While admitting Malaysia isn’t “the cleanest country in the world”, Nola believes it is still far cleaner compared to many nations she has visited.

On healthcare, she highlighted how Malaysia shines thanks to its multilingual doctors who can easily communicate with patients of different backgrounds, making the system more accessible.

According to her, Malaysia also offers excellent bang for your buck.

With RM100, you can book a decent Airbnb apartment, while in many countries the same amount would only get you a cramped hostel bed.

True spirit of diversity

But the one thing Nola cherishes the most is Malaysia’s multicultural harmony. From diverse halal food options to the warm relationships between communities, she said this sense of cultural celebration is what makes Malaysia truly special.

I’ve been to so many countries, but Malaysia is one of the few where diversity is not just present — it’s genuinely celebrated,” she shared.

Her reflections quickly struck a chord with Malaysians online, many agreeing that sometimes it takes leaving home to realise just how much the country has to offer.
