A Malaysian tourist is reminding others to always keep proof of payment while travelling overseas after she claimed a vendor in Jaipur, India, tried to make her pay twice for souvenirs she had already bought.
The incident, which was caught on video, has since sparked discussion among netizens on why travellers should keep receipts or record their purchases, especially when shopping abroad.
Already paid for the souvenirs
According to a woman known as Jieha, she was travelling with her group in Jaipur when she bought five souvenir items from a male vendor.

In the video she shared online, Jieha could be seen handing a banknote to the vendor after purchasing the items.
As the vendor allegedly did not provide a plastic bag, she then placed the items into her own bag.
Vendor allegedly asked her to pay again
However, when Jieha and her group were about to leave, the vendor suddenly stopped them and allegedly asked them to make payment.

“Pay me, pay me,” the vendor was heard saying in the video.
The situation could have easily turned messy, but luckily for Jieha, her group had video proof.
According to her, her husband then told the vendor that they had recorded the payment using a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 while vlogging.
After hearing that, the vendor reportedly let them go and no longer insisted that they pay again.
Following the incident, Jieha advised others to be more careful when shopping overseas.
She reminded travellers to always keep receipts and proof of payment so they will not be wrongly accused of not paying.
If a vendor does not provide a receipt, she said recording a video can also help serve as evidence.
Netizens agree it is important
In the comments section, many netizens agreed that keeping proof of payment is important, especially when travelling in tourist areas.
Some also felt that it was unlikely for the vendor to have forgotten that Jieha had already paid, especially since there were not many customers around at the time.
