A primary school teacher in Kuala Lumpur has taken a creative approach to class photos by having students pose inside a cardboard box!
Teacher Zulhilmi shared the fun photo session on TikTok, where he prepared a large cardboard box, turning it into a makeshift photo booth complete with a lighting setup to mimic a professional studio.
Later, he used Microsoft Word to edit the photos before proudly displaying the finished class portrait on the classroom’s back wall.
The project was not just about taking photos; it was also a chance to beautify the classroom.
“We’re also planning to spruce up the curtains and walls of our classroom. We’re still setting up a schedule for it,” the teacher said, describing the whole experience as enjoyable, especially the collaborative aspect of decorating the classroom with his students.
“Actually, throughout my experience as a class teacher, I’ve always used pictures of my students as classroom decorations,” he told WeirdKaya.
“Previously, I had done a ‘macho’ version with students posing with crossed arms, and another with them wearing sunglasses, which when pasted on the classroom’s softboard, made them look like high-class secret agents,” said the teacher.
“This year, for my new class, I wanted to do something different. Inspired by the excitement of online shopping, where you can’t wait to unbox what feels like a gift to yourself, I thought of capturing that same thrill.”
The inventive approach won heaps of praise online, with many netizens applauding Zulhilmi’s creativity and noting how it increased student engagement and happiness.
