A Malaysian achieved outstanding results with 8As in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, faced a heart-wrenching moment as her father tragically passed away from a heart attack just hours before the results were announced.
The 18-year-old, who hails from SMK Bandar Jengka, expressed her deep regret over not being able to share her academic success with her father.
Passed away due to heart attack
Siti Nor Charifa, who secured 7As and 1A+ in her SPM, is the third among four siblings.
She spoke to Kosmo! about the incident, revealing that her father had just returned from Sultan Idris University in Tanjung Malim after taking her sister for a teaching job interview.
“My late father had diabetes and high blood pressure, and he may have been overly fatigued, leading to the heart attack,” she said.
“He was laid to rest at the Muslim cemetery in Jengka Felda Settlement Scheme 1.”
Honor his legacy
Despite the sorrow of not sharing her triumph with her father, Siti Nor Charifa remains determined to honor his legacy.
“I will always remember my father’s teachings and strive to fulfill his wish for me to become a teacher and pursue a doctorate for greater achievements.”
“My father always believed that education is a noble profession that can enlighten and civilize people,” she added, highlighting his aspiration for all his children to pursue careers in education.
Although her father was often busy providing for the family, he always made time to visit her at the school dormitory.
Siti Nor Charifa is dedicating her excellent results to her late father and her cancer-stricken mother, Rokisu, hoping to secure a spot in a local public university and obtain a scholarship for further studies.
