Are students losing their love for studying? With social media on the rise, it seems like more teenagers are dreaming of becoming influencers than cracking open their textbooks.
But every now and then, someone reminds us that academic success is still alive and kicking.
Recently, a Malaysian student went viral for pulling off the impossible—scoring full marks in History, one of the most dreaded subjects in school.
The incredible feat was shared on TikTok by @slf6n, where the student showed off their neatly written answers to History Paper 2.
From the Malacca Sultanate to the Rukun Negara, Malaysia’s Independence, and even World War II in Europe, the paper covered a wide range of challenging topics.
It’s the kind of exam that gives most students a headache, but this student absolutely aced it, leaving no question unanswered.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, When asked for tips on how to ace History, the student shared their study strategy, which includes using the Pomodoro method.
“I study for 45 minutes and then take a 25-minute break. With this, I can study for about 4 to 5 hours,” she said.
To memorise key points, she first reads through and try to recall the information while looking at the book. Then, she closes the book and write down everything she’s remembered.
“I’ll simplify the content, like for faktor Perang Dunia Pertama, I’ll condense ‘krisis rantau Balkan’ into ‘KRB’. It makes it easier to remember during exams,” she explained.
At the time of writing, the TikTok video racked up over 1 million views, and netizens couldn’t stop cheering for the student.
Many said it was refreshing to see someone so focused on their studies, especially when some teens these days are more interested in chasing internet fame.
This brought back memories of a viral story where a whole Form 2 class scored zero in a History test. When asked about their ambitions, most of the students said they wanted to be influencers after SPM.
As if the perfect score wasn’t impressive enough, eagle-eyed viewers noticed the student’s school logo on their answer sheets.
Turns out, they’re from Temenggong Ibrahim Girl School (TIGS) in Batu Pahat, Johor. Alumni from TIGS weren’t surprised by the achievement, sharing that the school is known for pushing students to excel, particularly in Bahasa Malaysia and History.
