M’sian Says He Avoids Going To Ramadan Bazaars As ‘Sexily Dressed’ Women Often Tests His Self-Control

Ummm.
Whenever the phrase ‘Ramadan bazaars’ is brought up, the first thing that would come to one’s mind would be the crowds as well as the delicious food being sold by vendors.

However, it seems that it may not be the case for certain people, who have other things aside from food on their mind when at Ramadan bazaars.

‘Too many sexily dressed Muslim women’

In a rather bizarre opinion piece submitted to Malay news outlet Kosmo!, the writer, simply known as Geng Tarawih Kuala Selangor, explained why he often stays away from Ramadan bazaars like a plague.

At the beginning of the piece, he said that Ramadan is the time of the year where Muslims undergo physical and mental challenges.

He then went on to reveal the reason for his refusal to visit a Ramadan bazaar, where he attributed it to ‘sexily dressed women’.

At Ramadan bazaars, there are Muslim women who dress inappropriately and tempt men’s gaze. They do not wear hijabs but instead wear skirts, tight pants, and tops that reveal their chests.

“If men do not control their gaze, the quality of their fasting will be affected,” he wrote.

Avoids going to Ramadan bazaars

Towards the end of the piece, the man wrote that he made a conscious decision to not go to Ramadan bazaars to avoid being tempted.

“As a man, I do not visit the Ramadan bazaar because I am afraid of such challenges that demand self-control. Besides, I do not like the crowded atmosphere and going there makes me lose focus easily,” he explained.

He also said that the opinion piece was meant to be a reminder to Muslim readers to always be wary of where their eyes stray towards when they are at Ramadan bazaars.

“To the women, I urge you to wear an attire that portrays the authentic Muslim image instead of promoting a Western lifestyle.”
