A police officer has recently been hailed a hero by netizens after a viral clip showed him rescuing a kitten wedged in the wheel of a Perodua Myvi.
The heartwarming incident took place at traffic light located in front of Aman Sentral in Alor Setar, Kedah.
The video, which was first shared on TikTok but eventually found its way to the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) official Facebook page, has garnered over 772,000 views and close to 28,000 reactions.
Police officer saves kitten stuck in Myvi’s tyre
In the clip, Sergeant Mohd Effendi Karponan of the Kedah Police Contingent’s Transport (Technical) Branch is seen walking up to a white Perodua Myvi, where he instructed the driver to turn the wheels to the left so that it would face outward.
He then bends down to try to pull the kitten that was trapped on top of the tyre but was unable to do so.
A female passenger inside the car in front of the Myvi then gave Effendi a water bottle, suggesting he could use the water to encourage the kitten to crawl out from the tyre.
After walking back to the Myvi, Effendi proceeded to splash some water at the kitten and told the driver to rotate the tyres inward so that he could try rescuing the kitten again.
Thankfully, he succeeded in doing so and is seen holding the kitten by the nape of its neck and bringing it to the side of the road.
M’sians praise police officer
In the comment section, netizens showered words of praise on Effendi and commended him for acting quickly in saving the kitten.
They also praised the female passenger who lent a hand in the ‘rescue mission’.
