M’sian Police Officer Gets Finger Bitten Off By Man Who Threatened To Splash Acid

The suspect tested positive for drugs and had undergone psychiatric treatment in 2020.
A police officer had his ring finger partially bitten off while trying to subdue a man threatened to splash acid at a colleague.

Kosmo! reported that the incident took place in front of the Sungai Besi Police Station guard post on Monday (Apr 17).

Suspect threatened to splash acid at officer

According to a statement by Cheras district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Zam Halim Jamaluddin, the incident occurred at 10.15pm while the complainant and his colleague were on duty.

Suddenly, they were approached by a 34-year-old man who began shouting loudly about wanting to throw acid at them.

“The suspect then splashed the complainant’s face and body with mineral water before barging into the compound. He also threw a can of Red Bull towards the glass wall, causing it to break.

A scuffle broke out between the suspect, complainant, and two other officers. The suspect became aggressive and bit the ring finger of one of the officers, severing it at the tip,” he said.

The suspect, who suffered minor injuries from the scuffle, was eventually apprehended and police later found that he was wanted for a fraud case.

Tested positive for drugs

Zam Halim said the suspect’s urine test showed that he was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. He added that the man also sought psychiatric treatment in 2020 but never possessed a mental treatment card.

The suspect has since been remanded for four days until tomorrow (Apr 21) to facilitate investigations and the case is being investigated under Section 325/427 of the Penal Code and Section 90 of the Police Act 1967.
