M’sian Police Officer, Who Reportedly Had Mental Health Issues, Found Dead At Home

The case was ruled as sudden death.
A police officer holding the rank of an Assistant Superintendent was found dead at his residence on Jalan Kampung Nangka in Sibu, Sarawak yesterday (June 4).

Harian Metro reported that the victim’s wife had found him unconscious in the master bedroom and immediately contacted police at 6.50pm.

Sibu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azari Miskon said a team from the Sungai Merah Police Station, together with the Sibu District Criminal Investigation Department (CID), were dispatched to the scene.

He added based on preliminary investigations, no external injuries or signs of a struggle that could be linked to criminal elements were found on the victim’s body .

Reportedly experienced mental health issues

Investigations also found that the victim had been experiencing mental health issues since the start of the year and sought treatment at both a private clinic and hospital.

Based on his medical records, the victim last consulted a specialist at Sarikei Hospital on May 20 and was scheduled for a follow-up appointment on June 16.

The body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Sibu Hospital for further action, and a post-mortem examination was conducted to determine the cause of death.

Police have classified the case as sudden death (SDR) as investigations continue.
