One parent shared a photo of a chair from a classroom, highlighting its faded and dilapidated condition, which sparked a heartfelt response from the group.

The caption accompanying the photo expressed the parents’ concern: “No wonder their uniforms are always dirty. We need to buy new chairs for this class.”

The tweet, posted on March 13, 2024, with a caption lamenting the poor state of the school’s furniture and the parents’ decision to fund the purchase of new ones, quickly went viral.

It featured an image of one of the worn-out chairs, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

The fundraising initiative saw the participation of 23 parents, successfully raising a total of 745.45 Malaysian Ringgit.

As of 10 a.m. the following day, the post had garnered over 2 million views, nearly 3,000 shares, and close to 1,500 comments, sparking a broad range of reactions from the online community.

While many praised the parents for their proactive approach, others saw it as a commonplace occurrence.

Some even raised questions about the legality of the fundraising activity, sparking a debate over the responsibilities of schools and the role of community support in ensuring a conducive learning environment for students.
