She then suggested opting for a Honda City, similar to her friend’s boyfriend’s car, implying its prestige.

Taking to her Facebook, the OP, Utarmeme, shares a detailed story about what happened during his car buying journey.
Initially, he was more interested in the Proton S70 due to its appealing interior design.
When he mentioned his choice to his girlfriend, she became upset, expressing embarrassment at the idea of being seen in a Proton. Instead, she suggested getting a Honda City, similar to her friend’s boyfriend’s car, claiming it’s more prestigious.
GF insisted to get a Civic
She even had an argument with the sales advisor over this issue.
“The sales advisor tried to convince her that the S70 is a great choice, a comfortable C-segment car, but she insulted him, saying that Protons are for ‘Banglas’ to drive,” he wrote in the post.
Deciding not to prolong the argument, he opted for a used Honda Civic. To lessen the burden of the car loan, he requested his girlfriend’s monthly contribution of RM200.
She strongly objected to the idea and criticised him, stating that it was ridiculous for a girlfriend to contribute to the car installment.
Amidst this challenging situation and under pressure from his girlfriend, the OP decided to go with the Honda Civic.
“I gave in and decided to go for the used Civic, tightening my belt and settling for instant noodles and bread to make ends meet.” he expressed.
Another problem has emerged
After the Civic arrived, it didn’t please his girlfriend. She further praised her friend’s boyfriend because he owns a BMW 3 series, making him feel inadequate.
She even attacked him personally, mocking his height, strength, and unfavorably comparing him to her friend’s boyfriend. Adding to his distress, she later shared an Instagram story of herself riding in a BMW booked through Grab.
Seeking advice
Disheartened by the situation, the OP sought advice from the netizens on whether to use the Civic for ride-hailing services to help cover the installment costs.
“So, I’m wondering, would it be better to use my Civic for Grab or Lalamove? If a BMW can do Grab, then the Civic shouldn’t be too bad, right? I’m thinking of using Grab to help cover the installment payments.” the op asked.
