Birthdays are special occasions for any person as it marks the day they become a year older and (hopefully) wiser too.
A local man was moved to tears after his friends took the initiative to not only celebrate his birthday while he was far away from home, but even bought a slice of cake too.
Cries over birthday surprise
In a Threads video, it began with an Indian uncle and the cameraperson singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the OP named Hafiz.
The gesture touched Hafiz so deeply that he couldn’t help but to wipe away the tears while holding onto a slice of cake gifted to him by his friends.

At the end of the song, Hafiz shakes the hand of both the Indian uncle and the cameraperson for the mini ‘celebration’.
First time in my life getting a birthday surprise from my Indian and Chinese friend. Thank you so much Ya Lian and Elen for the cute birthday cake,” he wrote in the caption.
Touching experience
In a brief conversation with WeirdKaya, Hafiz said the birthday surprise was thrown by his friends, whom he had known for the past five years.

He also revealed that it took place on Sept 2 at his workplace in Singapore, where he had been working as a technician for six years.
Hafiz added the surprise left him feeling “touched, excited and sad” at the same time, perfectly encapsulating the wave of emotions he experienced at the time.
He also had a message for Malaysians of all races and backgrounds, saying:
“What you see about racism on social media is very different from what happens in real life. Be a good person to everyone and respect each other.”
