Anyone who has worked in the food and beverage (F&B) industry that dealing with tons of customers all alone is the hardest and most exhausting thing to do.
A female cafe staff thought she was going to experience a similar fate but was pleasantly surprised when a customer decided to hop in and assist her in preparing the orders.
In a brief clip shared on Threads, it showed a young woman in a white tudung making her way behind the counter as the staff was busy preparing drinks.
As soon as she found herself behind the counter, the woman’s status changed from that of a customer’s to a staff’s and she gets to work immediately.
This left both her friends and other customers in awe, who never expected such a sight to unfold before their eyes.
Worked for same cafe as the staff
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the OP said the incident took place on National Day (Aug 31) at a cafe in Penang, where the staff was the only one on duty to serve more than 10 customers waiting inside and outside of the premise.
She added that coincidentally, her friend had worked for the same cafe as the staff for months, but at another outlet.
“My friend wanted to help because she felt sorry for the staff as there were so many customers. She helped out until the crowd lessened and we went back because my mum was waiting for us in the car, oblivious to what what had happened,” she explained.
When asked whether she expected the post to hit over 45,000 likes, the OP said she was shocked by the figures as it was just another ordinary posting to her.
She also hopes that Malaysians will be able to garner a positive message from the video.
“I only shared this post to show that helping others is not difficult at all. When we help someone, we can feel happy, and the person we help can feel happy too. So, I hope more Malaysians will be willing to help others whenever they can.”

Praise for OP’s friend
The woman’s kindness didn’t go unnoticed by netizens, who showered praise on her for stepping in to help the staff.
The staff herself also commented on the clip, where she thanked the OP’s friend for coming to her aid even when she didn’t have to.
She also told netizens to not direct their anger towards the cafe’s management as she was the one who came up with the work schedule and was ready to take on more customers than usual.
