“Upon reaching the location, the vehicle skidded into the opposite lane and collided with a Ford Ranger driven by a 49-year-old man from Sandakan. The victim’s Nissan Navara spun out of control, causing the Ford Ranger to veer off to the left side of the road,” he said.

Both the driver and the passenger of the Nissan Navara exited their vehicle and were standing on the road when a 47-year-old man driving an Isuzu D Max from Lahad Datu’s direction struck the victim.

The impact resulted in the 38-year-old man being pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, the other drivers and passengers involved in the collisions were unharmed.

The victim’s body was subsequently transported to Lahad Datu Hospital for further examination, while blood samples from all parties involved were sent to the Chemistry Department in Kota Kinabalu for alcohol and drug testing.

“The investigation is being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987,” Dzulbaharin added.

He urged anyone with information about the incident to contact traffic investigator Inspector Humaidi Harun at 089-881255 or visit the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters directly.
