What to do when someone has a seizure
While witnessing a seizure is a frightening experience, here are some steps you can take if you see someone suffering one:
- Stay calm and don’t panic
- Loosen the person’s clothing around their neck to ease their breathing
- Do NOT put anything into their mouth
- Only move them if they’re at a dangerous location
- If the fit comes to an end, turn the person over to their side
- Maintain a calm conversation with the person until their condition improves
If the person fails to recover after more than 5 minutes, is severely injured, or remains unconscious, call for medical assistance immediately.
