KOTA BARU – In a tragic incident in Taman Desa Darulnaim near Kubang Kerian, a 42-year-old woman was reportedly killed by her ex-husband, with jealousy suspected as the underlying motive.
According to NST, the Kelantan police chief, Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun stated that officers discovered the woman’s body in her living room around 3 am, bathed in blood from 13 stab wounds.
After an emergency call, police were promptly dispatched to the scene. The victim, a mother of three, was subsequently transported to Raja Perempuan Zainab II hospital.
Heated debate between the duo
Eyewitness accounts revealed that a heated exchange was heard between the victim and her ex-husband, the primary suspect in the case.
“I was shocked to see that a woman had been stabbed to death, presumably by her ex-husband, who was also seriously injured. Neither I nor the other neighbors anticipated such a terrible incident that resulted in the victim’s death,” a witness told Harian Metro.
The woman, who had parted ways with her husband a few months earlier, leaves behind three children, ranging in age from 14 to 24.
The dispute, according to Zaki, is thought to have erupted over the man’s suspicions of his ex-wife’s infidelity.
The suspect, a 51-year-old male who attempted to end his own life following the incident, was apprehended by police. The murder weapon, a knife, was also recovered at the scene.
Zaki informed that the suspect is currently receiving treatment at the same hospital for severe self-inflicted wounds. A remand order will soon be issued for his custody.
He stated that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
