Condolences.
Depression is a mental illness that slowly eats one up from within, where the person feels trapped and helpless in battling his/her personal battles and may lead to tragic events.

A pair of parents in Sungai Petani, Kedah, were left reeling with shock from the sudden demise of their son, who fatally wounded himself by cutting open his throat and stomach in an alleged suicide.

Speaking to the Chinese daily, a neighbour, who wished to be anonymous, said the victim had a history of depression and was living with his parents as he was unemployed.

The neighbour also claimed to have heard cries for help coming out from the house, only to later discover the victim had ended his own life.

The victim rarely stepped out of the house but his parents often mingled and socialised with other neighbours, which is why this incident has come as a huge shock to everyone.

“After the tragedy occurred, the victim’s sister and brother rushed back home to the scene,” added the neighbour.

The case has since been classified as sudden death.
