Nasi lemak at RM1

According to Sinar Harian, the 44-year-old vendor has opted to retain the RM1 price for his nasi lemak, driven by his desire to help the public, particularly those who are underprivileged, in enjoying their favorite dish at an affordable cost.

Zulkifli explained that finding local rice in the market is challenging, so he has no choice but to rely on expensive imported rice for his business.

However, the use of expensive imported rice does not impact the price of his affordable nasi lemak.

“It is difficult to obtain local rice in the market. I have no choice but to use imported rice, even though the price is quite expensive. Nevertheless, I have maintained the original price since I began selling Nasi Lemak in 2020,” he told Sinar Harian.

Zulkifli explained that he offers nasi lemak with omelette at the affordable price of RM1, which he believes caters to low-income individuals for breakfast and is also a popular choice among school students during their break time.

Also, he provides a larger portion of nasi lemak for RM2.

Expressing his gratitude, he added, “I’m pleased with the positive response; we’re currently selling 200 packs a day.”

Nasi lemak was arranged accordingly with its price stated in front of it.

Zulkifli has his own secret recipe for his nasi lemak

Acknowledging the presence of numerous competitors, Zulkifli mentioned that each of them possesses unique strengths or advantages.

“I’ve remade my grandmother’s treasured secret kampung sambal recipe, which has garnered a fan following. Typically, I will start my business at 6.30 am, with the earliest start time being 7.30 am and the latest at 9 am.” he said.

“When it comes to nasi lemak sales, I handle everything from the rice steaming to sambal preparation. My wife helps with packaging,” he said, mentioning they also receive orders for donating nasi lemak to tahfiz centers, schools, and specific events, in addition to their regular sales.
