M’sian Man Murders Brother And His Wife Due To Land Dispute

The suspect has since been remanded.
Having disagreements with family is something common as not everyone shares the same opinion on everything. However, if left unchecked, it can lead to tragic and devastating events.

A couple lost their lives after a verbal dispute over a piece of land with a family member turned sour, causing the latter to murder them.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the couple were identified as 74-year-old Xu Guicheng and 72-year-old Xu Xiying (both transliterations), while the 60-year-old suspect was Xu’s younger brother.

The Chinese daily also reported that the tragedy occurred at a palm oil plantation near Pantai Remis at around 3pm yesterday (Mar 5).

According to police reports, the palm oil plantation belonged to Xu and the suspect went to meet him and his wife, where the argument took place.

As the argument escalated, the suspect used a sickle and injured Xu and his wife with it, leading to their deaths.

Following the murder, the suspect didn’t flee the scene but made a call to his nephew, who then reported the incident to police.

Upon arriving at the scene, police arrested the suspect and confiscated the sickle used in the incident.

Land dispute the cause of murder

Manjung district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said a dispute over a piece of land was what led to the couple’s murder.

“The victims’ bodies were found in the palm oil plantation area and had been sent to the forensic unit of the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) in Ipoh for post-mortem examination.

“The police have arrested the suspect who will be taken to the Seri Manjung magistrate’s court for a remand application for further investigation,” he said as quoted by NST.

The case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
