Booking an e-hailing ride is supposed to be a hassle-free and convenient experience for users, many of whom are often rushing against time to get to their destination.
Unfortunately for one man, his wasn’t a smooth affair after the Grab driver who accepted his booking went for a meal first before coming for him.
Grab driver goes for dinner before picking passenger up
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to vent his frustrations, the man named Khairul shared screenshots of a conversation he had with a Grab driver.
According to one of the screenshots, he asked the driver whether he was nearby as he had waited for him to turn up for some time.
To his shock, the Grab driver replied apologetically by saying that he was going to have his dinner first before coming for Khairul.
Needless to say, Khairul was upset by the Grab driver’s reply and scolded him for accepting his booking in the first placed and causing him to run late.
He also didn’t mince his words in the caption, where he made his frustration clear for all to see.
Why does Grab hire such stupid drivers? Accept (my booking) but goes for a meal. I’m already late!
Tried booking 2 rides but failed
Unfortunately for Khairul, his troubles didn’t stop after the first Grab driver ‘ditched’ him for dinner.
According to him, Khairul said he tried to book a ride with two other Grab drivers at 7pm but both ultimately cancelled the booking.
It wasn’t until an hour later where Khairul was finally able to secure a Grab ride to his destination.
Auto-accept feature to blame?
In the comment section, netizens debated over what could have been the cause for the incident, with some pinning the blame on Grab’s auto-accept feature, which creates a loophole for drivers to not pick up passengers without getting penalised.
One netizen shared how he found himself in a similar situation, where the driver told him whether he could wait for 30 minutes so that he could have lunch.
Another suggested that Khairul turn to other apps such as InDrive, Maxim, or AirAsia Ride instead of Grab. In response, Khairul said the reason he chose Grab was because it was “more reliable”.
