In the past, we’ve seen multiple instances of parents or partners gifting luxury cars to their loved ones either as a reward or surprise.
This time round, it involved a YouTuber who surprised his girlfriend with an electric vehicle with the aim of helping her to be financially independent.
Buys electric car for girlfriend
In a video posted by a YouTuber named Dashen last Sunday (Aug 6), he said that he was looking for a gift for his girlfriend Miki and eventually chose a car called Ora Good Cat.
He explained that he settled for a car to give to Miki as she doesn’t have one to commute around and he usually had to be her chauffeur.
He also added that he will be paying the RM100,000 down payment while Miki will be responsible for the remaining payment.
I would pay half for the car, and she would have to finish paying off the car herself. I’m not gifting her the entire car as I want her to service the loan and learn to grow up.
“I’ve been telling her to buy a car of her own but knowing her, she wouldn’t take the first step to do so, which is why I’m buying it for her instead,” he said.
After picking the Ora Good Cat from a GWM showroom, it was delivered right to his doorstep in a transparent gift box.
‘Are you pranking me?’
On the day of the surprise, Dashen blindfolded Miki and led her out of the house before removing the blindfold and showing her the electric car.
Upon seeing the vehicle, Miki was filled with disbelief and asked Dashen whether he was pranking her, to which he replied, “No, I’m serious!” before telling her that the car was 100% hers and that she had to finance half of the instalment.
Still visibly in shock and doubtful over the gift, Dashen handed her the car keys to prove that it was real. When she pressed a button, the car’s lights immediately turned on.
Towards the end of the video, it revealed that Miki had driven the electric car for a week and that she loved its feminine aesthetic and safety features before poking fun at Dashen by saying that he had “given half a gift”.
