He then spent the next six hours trying to look for coverage in order to contact the firefighters after he realised he was lost.

“The victim was found trembling and crying whilst in a weakened state at 8.10am. According to him, he was riding the motorcycle alone and didn’t expect to get lost until he reached the rubber and oil palm plantation.

This is because he solely relied on the traffic application to return to his brother’s house in Sungai Petani to spend the night there but got lost for more than 10km away from the main road.

“The victim panicked and tried finding his way out but failed. After navigating through several winding and muddy roads, he gave up and tried contacting the fire brigade but couldn’t due to poor coverage,” he said.

Zulkhairi added that victim only managed to make the call six hours after getting lost in the rubber and oil palm plantation. He also said the victim claimed to have heard the sounds of wild animals and spirits while there.

Thankfully, the young man sustained only light injuries and was sent to the Teloi Timur clinic for further treatment.
