Every now and then, we probably have experienced a frustrating encounter with orders made through food delivery apps.
Recently, a man shared how he drove himself to a Pizza Hut outlet after waiting for two hours for his order and several failed attempts to have it cancelled.
Waited 2 hours for order
In a post shared to the Facebook group KL娱乐站, the man wrote that he ordered food from Pizza Hut at 9.45pm via the foodpanda app.
After 30 minutes, he went to check on his order and the app indicated that his meal was still being prepared.
Strangely, the said outlet was also listed as ‘closed’ on the app – a claim which the man did not show in the Facebook post.
He then contacted foodpanda’s customer service and requested them to cancel the order and refund him. However, the customer service representative insisted that the order was in the kitchen and would be delivered by 11pm.
When the order did not arrive at 11pm, he messaged foodpanda again, but they told him to keep waiting, stating that the restaurant was still preparing the food.
Frustrated and hungry, the man ended up having his meal at McDonald’s.
After finishing his meal, he contacted foodpanda’s customer service again, but was told that the food was still being prepared and that he won’t get his money back if he cancelled the order.
Not long after, the man received a message saying that his order would be delivered at 12:51am.
‘The outlet’s closed!’
By this time, the man was boiling with frustration and eventually drove himself to the Pizza Hut outlet to find out what was going on.
Needless to say, the restaurant was closed and the man took a picture of the darkened store as evidence that he won’t be getting his order anytime soon.
After going back and forth with customer service, the man finally got his order cancelled at 2am.
Who’s at fault?
The post has since garnered 3.5k likes and 1k comments at the time of writing, where netizens debated over who might have caused the incident.
Some blamed the OP for placing an order near the restaurant’s closing time, saying that it was inconsiderate of him to do so.
In his defense, he claimed that he wasn’t aware that it would close early.
On the other hand, some defended the OP and said foodpanda should have notified him about the restaurant closing soon.
Others also shared their own frustrating experiences with the delivery platform, claiming that their enquiries were attended to by a bot, not a real human being.
