Malaysia is renowned for its delicious and affordable street food, where many working adults often purchase for a quick breakfast. However, there are cases where there has been a lapse in cleanliness.
A man recently took to TikTok to express his shock and disgust after he discovered that the egg yolk inside a packet of nasi lemak was teeming with live maggots.

In the brief 14-second video uploaded by @faezzin994, he can be heard telling street vendors, primarily those who sold nasi lemak, to avoid reusing eggs which were unsold from the previous day.
As he zoomed the camera nearer to the egg yolk, a couple of maggots were seen crawling out from it.
Faez also said in the clip that he had consumed half of the yolk before he discovered that it was infested with maggots. Oh no!
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Faez said he purchased the RM5 nasi lemak from a street vendor near Section 20 in Shah Alam. However, his appetite was thoroughly ruined after he stumbled upon the rotten egg yolk.
He also called upon street vendors to practice good hygiene so that their customers will not fall sick.
I really hope street vendors will consider the cleanliness of their food and refrain from selling items that were not sold the previous day,” he added.
Extra protein?
The clip has since garnered over 88,000 views at the time of writing as well as disgusted netizens, who were concerned by the quality and hygiene of food being sold nowadays.
‘After (I found) a lizard inside my nasi lemak, I now have a phobia of it.’
‘If the person was a fast eater, he/she wouldn’t have seen the maggots.’
One joked: ‘The vendor gave you extra protein, bro.’
