A man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of intentionally injuring his wife by assaulting her with a golf club, reported NST.
32-year-old Azwan Azman, made the plea at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court when the charge was read before judge Darmafikri Abu Adam yesterday (June 23).

According to the charge sheet, Azwan was accused of allegedly beating his 28-year-old wife Noraishah Ya’acob with a golf club, metal baton and a bamboo shaft at a house located in Jalan Seri Emas 3, Taman Seri Telok Mas in Melaka at around 3.30am on June 19.
He was charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which was read together with Section 326A of the same code.
If found guilty, he faces up to 20 years in prison or whipping/caning.
Suspected wife cheated on him with 19yo boy
China Press reported that Azwan had assaulted his wife after he suspected that she had cheated on him with a 19-year-old boy.
In court, deputy public prosecutor N. Sivashangari offered no bail, citing that the victim had sustained severe injuries as a result of the beating.
Azwan’s counsel, Muhammad Syah Azlan Abdullah requested for a lower bail amount and said that Azwan’s mother was ready to post bail but only had RM4,000 on hand.
Azwan was later released on a RM10,000 bail with one surety and was ordered to report himself to the nearest police station every month and not contact the victim or prosecution witnesses until the case ends.
The court also set Aug 1 for case mention.
