M’sian Man Attacked By Elephant While Pooping Beside River Near Gerik-Jeli East-West Highway

Be careful where you poop.
A man sustained severe injuries after an elephant trampled him at Batu 11 on the Gerik-Jeli East-West Highway last night.

According to New Straits Times, the injured man, a resident of Felda Bersia, suffered multiple injuries including broken ribs, a fractured left leg, and head injuries in the incident that occurred at 7 pm.

Only victim out of a group of 12

Yusoff Shariff, the director of the Perak Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan), reported that the incident took place as the man was relieving himself by a river in the area due to diarrhea.

“Based on the information we gathered, while the man was using the river for relief, an elephant trampled him. Although there were 12 people nearby, he was the only one in the river at that time and was the sole individual attacked by the elephant,” Yusoff explained.

Following the attack, the man was immediately taken to Gerik Hospital and later transferred to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh for further treatment.
