Kosmo reported that the unfortunate incident took place in the Ulu Sat forest reserve area when the 39-year-old suspect and his 26-year-old cousin, Muhamad Hasnizi Che Hasmi, went hunting at 2am yesterday (May 13).

Machang district police chief Superintendent Mohd. Adli Mat Daud said police also found a homemade shotgun, a bullet dispenser, and four bullets.
“Our investigations found that the suspect had unintentionally shot the victim after he mistook him for a wild animal.
“Both the suspect and victim had no criminal record and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code and Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960,” he said in a statement.
He also added that the suspect will be remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for further investigation.
The victim’s body was later sent to the Machang Hospital for a post-mortem after a group of villagers carried it out from the forest reserve area.
