Ordering food is supposed to save you the trouble of cooking, but one Malaysian woman allegedly received an unpleasant extra that instantly killed her appetite.
A woman recently took to Threads to share photos and a video of what appeared to be numerous small larvae crawling inside a container of nasi goreng kampung she had ordered through a food delivery app.
Ordered two portions of nasi goreng kampung
According to a screenshot of her order, the woman had ordered two portions of nasi goreng kampung on Aug 5.

She also left a note asking for the food to be made extra spicy.
However, after receiving the meal and opening the container, she noticed what appeared to be small larvae moving among the rice and ikan bilis (anchovies).
I immediately lost my appetite after seeing those things crawling around.”
Photos shared by her showed several small, pale objects scattered around the rice and ikan bilis.
Netizens puzzled over how it happened
The post quickly caught attention, with many netizens equally disturbed by the sight.

Some were particularly confused as the food appeared to still be warm when it arrived.
One commenter wrote that the rice appeared to still be steaming, yet there were already larvae inside.
Others speculated that they could have originated from one of the ingredients, particularly the ikan bilis, though there was no confirmation of what the larvae actually were or how they ended up in the food.
Another commenter urged the woman to lodge a report with the Ministry of Health Malaysia over food safety concerns.
She was too afraid to open the other meal

When another netizen suggested that the larvae might have come from the ikan bilis, the woman replied that she felt bad throwing food away.
However, after what she had just seen, she admitted that she was too scared to even open the second portion.
At the time of writing, it remains unclear what caused the apparent contamination or whether the restaurant involved has responded to the incident.
