A viral video on Instagram is catching the attention of many, featuring an unusual encounter between a man playing basketball and an “aunty” who seems determined to stop him — by any means necessary.
“You shouldn’t play basketball in a basketball court”
The incident, which took place around 10 am at a local basketball court, shows the man enjoying playing basketball by himself when an older woman approaches him, visibly irritated by the noise.
While a row of houses can be seen nearby, the man is playing inside a sheltered basketball court, designated for basketball.
In the video, the woman can be heard shouting insults at the man, claiming, “Orang ini kurang ajar, creating noise so early,” while describing the sound of the basketball as an “explosion.”
Malay uncle stepped in to help
As the woman continued to berate him, a Malay uncle stepped in, attempting to calm the situation and explain to the woman that the man was simply enjoying his game.
However, after several failed attempts to reason with her, the uncle gave up and walked away.
Undeterred, the aunty escalated her “sonic attack.” Realizing that insults weren’t working, she resorted to banging a pan and spatula, using them as makeshift drums in an attempt to drown out the sound of the basketball.
The man, refusing to be distracted, continued playing, even incorporating some jumping jacks to her rhythm, turning the bizarre situation into an impromptu workout.
Eventually, after a long standoff, the aunty seemed to realize her efforts were futile and walked away in defeat.
The aunty is famous for doing this
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the original poster shared that the incident took place in Ipoh.
According to him, he arrived at the basketball court at 10 a.m., to play for the first time at that location.
After about one minute of playing, the woman appeared and began her verbal assault, with the encounter lasting for approximately 8-9 minutes as seen in the original video.
When asked about his thoughts on the situation, the man responded lightheartedly, saying, “I have nothing to say, I just hope they’re happy.”
He then emphasized the importance of staying calm, noting that in situations where rational communication is impossible, it’s crucial to “control your emotions” and avoid acting out of spite.
A Malay uncle who witnessed the scene later approached the man and asked if it was his first time playing at that court, asking if he didn’t know who the aunty was.
“She was apparently known around the area for causing similar disturbances.“ He said.
