If you’ve read the news or go through toll booths often, you’d probably heard of or witnessed people going to great lengths to avoid paying the parking or toll fee.
A WeirdKaya reader named Mr Ong recently shared about how he was unable to exit the parking lot of a shopping mall after a motorcyclist tailed him from behind and zoomed past him after he paid for the parking fee.

According to dashcam footage provided to WeirdKaya, it showed Mr Ong making his way out from the parking lot of a mall in Petaling Jaya.
In the midst of doing so, a middle-aged man riding on a motorcycle suddenly emerges from the right side and follows Mr Ong closely from behind.
Another dashcam footage showed Mr Ong approaching the boom gate and bringing his vehicle to a complete stop.
As soon as he paid the parking fee and was about to exit when the boom gate rose, the motorcyclist dashed past him, prompting the boom gate to be lowered and essentially trapping Mr Ong as a result.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Mr Ong said the incident took place on Dec 28 at around 3.40pm, adding that he was “stunned and helpless” when he found himself being affected by a parking fee skipper.
I’ve heard of cases where people would avoid paying toll fees, but I never thought such incidents would happen at a parking lot.
“Luckily, I didn’t drive straightaway when the boom gate was lifted. If not, an accident would have occurred and my car would have been damaged,” he said.
When asked how he managed to leave the parking lot, Mr Ong said he called for help via the intercom speaker button and eventually was allowed to leave after an officer verified his payment.
He also added that he has reached out to the mall management regarding the incident.
“Unfortunately, they were unable to identify the motorcyclist’s plate number from CCTV footage due to light glare.
“However, they assured that they will share this incident to the security team in order to prevent such incidents from happening.”
