Last weekend, a Malaysian influencer stunned everyone by uploading a video of her family members speaking fluent Kelantanese dialect during their Chinese New Year Open House.

Mekyun took to her Instagram account, giving everyone a sneak peek into the Chinese New Year celebration they hosted during an open house at her cousin’s house.
“Here’s how it is, Open House for Chinese New Year in my big family! Isn’t it lively?” she captioned her video.
The one-minute video started with Mekyun warmly greeting her audience in the rich tones of the Kelantanese dialect, showing the menu of the day, featuring Malaysia’s beloved ‘Nasi Lemak.’
Following that, she effortlessly engaged in conversation with her family members in the same dialect, showcasing their remarkable fluency. Even the kid could speak the dialect very fluently.
As the video drew to a close, Mekyun’s father remarked, “Our cousin served Nasi Lemak for the Chinese New Year Open House, which is a no surprise. After all, we are one Malaysia.”
Witnessing the joyous atmosphere and the seamless exchange in their Kelantanese dialect was truly heartwarming.
The video has since captivated over 1.7 million viewers on Instagram, with more than 800 comments pouring in from netizens, who were deeply impressed by the family’s linguistic prowess and showered them with admiration.
