Most of the time, a majority of people would be more than willing to help those in need whenever it’s within their power to do so. However, there may be times where they might be unable to do so due to personal reasons or circumstances.
A deliveryman found himself becoming a victim of assault and verbal threats after he declined helping a man place a gas cylinder on his motorbike due to a bad back.
Beaten for refusing to help put gas cylinder on motorbike
According to Harian Metro, the incident took place at Taman Putra, Ampang Jaya, last Friday (Apr 26).
In a statement by Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail, he said during the 3.30pm incident, the 36-year-old victim saw that the suspect nearly fell while carrying a gas cylinder.
He then rushed over and managed to prevent the suspect from falling and was then asked to help put the gas cylinder on the suspect’s motorcycle.
However, the victim refused as he had a back problem. The suspect became angry and acted aggressively by pointing a toy pistol at him.
“He also hit the victim with a helmet on the forehead, causing injury,” added Mohd Azam.
A police report was later lodged by the victim and a team from the mpang Jaya District Police Headquarters’ (IPD) Criminal Investigation Division arrested the 31-year-old suspect in Kampung Tasik Permai Ampang yesterday (Apr 28).
Further investigation found that the suspect had two previous criminal records and police have remanded him for four days to assist in investigations under Section 427 of the Penal Code (for committing mischief that causes loss or damage).
