M’sian Couple Found Dead At Genting Highlands Hotel, Police Believe It Could Be Suicide

Twin tragedies.
A married couple had their lives tragically cut short after they allegedly fell to their deaths at a hotel in Genting Highlands, reported Berita Harian.

In a statement by Bentong district police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, he said police received a report of the incident at around 9.46pm on Tuesday (May 16).

Couple checked into hotel 5 days before incident

He added that preliminary investigations found that the couple, who were both 37-years-old and hailed from Taiping, had checked into the hotel on May 11.

“Examination of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the hotel revealed that from the date of their check-in until the date of the incident, no one entered or exited the room except for the couple,” he said.

Suicide probed as potential cause

Zahar said that police found no criminal elements or signs of foul play in the incident and that they are also probing the matter as possible suicide, reported China Press.

He also added that the autopsy results showed that the husband had died from ‘massive hemothorax’ (massive amounts of blood filling the lungs due to blunt trauma) while the wife suffered severe head injuries.

“The public is advised not to make speculations about the case and further information can be relayed by contacting the Operations Room of the Bentong District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 09-2222222 for further action,” he said.
