M’sian Cheerleading Team Wins Gold Medal At International Competition In The US

Well done!
Over the years, Malaysia has produced some of the finest sportspeople ever to grace the local and international stage across multiple sports, with notable examples being Nicol David, Lee Chong Wei, and Azizulhasni Awang.

This time around, a group of cheerleaders did the nation proud by winning the top spot at a recent international cheerleading competition in the US!

M’sian cheerleading team wins gold medal in the US

According to an Instagram post shared by Cheerleading Association and Register of Malaysia (CHARM), it announced that the Malaysian team was crowned champions under the Youth All Girl Median category.

The event that they took part was the International Cheer Union (ICU) International Cheerleading Cup in Orlando, Florida from Apr 28 to Apr 29.

As for the second, third, and fourth placing, it was snagged by Team Mexico, Tricolor ECU (Ecuador), and Team Chile respectively.

Congratulated by Sports Minister

The cheerleading team’s win didn’t go unnoticed by Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, who took to Facebook to praise them for their historic victory.

Congratulations to Team Malaysia Youth All Girl for emerging Champions at the club-level International Cheerleading Cup (ICC) 2024 in Florida, USA!

“When we continue to encourage and support our athletes, the results will come! So proud of you girls. Believe in yourself, train hard and celebrate,” she wrote.

Previously, it was announced that the cheerleading would receive a RM80,000 financial aid so that they could represent the country.

Aside from the gold medal, Team Malaysia won bronze at the ICU Worlds Cheerleading Championships also held in Orlando from Apr 24 to Apr 26.

Congratulations again to the team and thank you for making all Malaysians proud!
