A man who endured years of criticism and opposition from his wife has become an online sensation after turning a long-term dream into reality.
Despite facing skepticism and cold remarks, he managed to save RM100,000 over 10 years, purchasing a dilapidated house for half its market price.
Following an extensive renovation costing RM89,000, the home’s value skyrocketed to RM358,000, leaving netizens in awe.
Mocked for not owning a house
The story was shared by contractor Nasir on his TikTok account @fadnasir_, who revealed that his client was often mocked by his wife and others for his idea of rebuilding a house.
However, the man ignored the negativity and secretly bought the run-down property without informing his wife.
Photos shared by Nasir showed the house in its original state—overgrown with weeds, visibly damaged, and seemingly abandoned.
This condition allowed the man to purchase the house for a mere RM100,000, which was 50% below its market value.
Spent RM89k on renovation
Determined to transform the property into his dream home, the man appointed Nasir as the contractor for a complete makeover.
The renovation included a modern, white contemporary theme, expanded kitchen and bedroom spaces, and the addition of new rooms to enhance comfort.
Despite the high renovation cost of RM89,000, the man was willing to invest to achieve his vision.
The project took five months to complete, but during the renovation process, the wife discovered the purchase of the dilapidated house.
Furious, she scolded her husband, calling him foolish for spending so much money on what seemed like a worthless property.
House is valued at RM358k now
However, her anger turned to delight when the house was fully renovated. The team’s exceptional workmanship transformed the broken-down house into a luxurious home, creating a stunning surprise for the wife.
The couple was thrilled with the results, turning what was once a source of ridicule into a cherished memory.
Nasir praised the man’s determination, noting that he never gave up despite widespread opposition.
“The total cost, including the purchase and renovation, was about RM189,000. Today, after an evaluation, the house is valued at RM358,000. If sold, the man would earn a huge profit. This was indeed a wise decision,” Nasir said.
