Tactile walkways are often equipped with rows of truncated domes which can be detected underneath the feet or with a walking cane. This type of walkway is specially designed to help the visually impaired get around safely.
Unfortunately for a blind man in KL, the tactile walkway led him straight into the drain after he fell into a hole which was right in the middle of it.

Taking to TikTok to recount the unfortunate incident, a woman named Nadia said that her husband, who is blind, had fallen through a hole along the tactile walkway and straight into the drain.
Luckily, his handphone was with him at the time and he immediately sent her a voice note on WhatsApp informing her of the situation.
According to Nadia, the tactile walkway was located within the area of Dataran Merdeka heading towards the National Mosque.
In the clip, the tactile walkway had a section which wasn’t covered and revealed a drain underneath it.
Suffered no injuries
Thankfully, Nadia’s husband emerged from the fall unscathed and he later went to a clinic for a checkup, where the doctor informed him he didn’t suffer any fractures.
Nadia also called upon the public to report to the authorities if they saw obstacles or holes along the tactile walkway.
In the comment section, netizens were shocked yet relieved to see that Nadia’s husband wasn’t injured by the fall.
One urged Nadia to file for compensation from the city council over the incident.
Another wrote that it was common to see the metal covers being stolen and sold by those wanting to finance their drug habits.
