Renting out your home on platforms like Airbnb can come in handy in earning extra income. However, one of the biggest risks is not knowing whether the guest would maintain the place as it was and not thrash it.
One woman was horrified to discover that her once beautiful unit was turned into absolute disarray by irresponsible guests who left not only their dirty laundry behind, but unwanted “extras” as well.
Airbnb unit full of beer cans and condoms
In a Facebook post shared to the group Airbnb & Homestay Host Malaysia by a woman named Farrah, she recounted how her unit was transformed into a hellhole by the guests.
As seen in the photos, the sofa, tables, were full of empty beer cans along with several half-finished bottles of mineral water.
As for the kitchen, it was worse off than other sections of the house, where it was littered with dirty plates and even had a pot filled with cooked food.
However, Farrah was given the nastiest surprise of her life when she made her way to the bathroom, where she found what looked like a condom sticking to the bidet!
According to her, the guests had only stayed for two days but somehow managed to completely turn the place upside down.
“I feel like crying when it comes to cleaning this place. They partied real hard and the house is in shambles. It smells bad, the floor is sticky, and there are alcohol bottles and condoms everywhere,” she wrote in the caption.
She added that she tried to claim for compensation from the guests but got no response. Thankfully, she managed to get it from Airbnb.
Netizens disgusted
The post has since garnered much attention from netizens, who were appalled by the unit’s condition.
‘Is that a condom on the pipe? My goodness!’
‘Another reason for me not to rent (my unit) for Airbnb.’
One netizen suggested that Farrah install a CCTV at the entrance and ask beforehand how many guests will be staying to avoid such situations from happening again.
