In a world filled with uncertainties, recent events in Malaysia have left many questioning the safety of our beloved country.
However, a new study has brought some positive news, ranking Malaysia as the 10th Most Peaceful Country in the World for 2024.
According to the 2024 Global Peace Index, Malaysia has become the second Asian country to make it into the top 10, with Singapore holding the 5th spot.
This is a significant leap, as Malaysia has climbed 9 spots from last year, marking its debut in the top 10.
When the Peace Index was first launched in 2008, Malaysia was at the 32nd position.
Our nation’s progress is a testament to the strength of our multicultural society, comprising Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous communities.
Government policies promoting tolerance and encouraging inclusivity have played a crucial role in this advancement.
The report highlighted, “Crime rates are low compared to other countries in the region, and a prosperous economy helps reduce poverty and inequality.”
They said Since gaining independence in 1957, Malaysia has experienced consistent governance, which has contributed to a stable and harmonious social and political environment.
For the record, Iceland holds the first rank for Most Peaceful Countries in the World 2024, followed by Ireland in second place and Austria in third.
