A recent study ranked Malaysia as the third safest country in Southeast Asia for women, reflecting the nation’s efforts in promoting women’s well-being and empowerment.
The ranking was recently released in an Instagram post by @seasia.stats, where it evaluated a range of indicators such as crime rates, access to healthcare, education, economic opportunities, and women’s rights protection.
M’sia ranked 3rd safest country in SEA for women
According to the statistics which were based on a study conducted by The Global Women’s Peace and Security Index (WPS Index) which evaluates the inclusion, fair treatment, and security of women across 170 countries., Malaysia secured third place with a score of 0.738.
As for its SEA counterparts, Singapore secured the top spot with a score of 0.887, while Thailand took second place with a score of 0.764.
At the global level, Norway was found to be the safest country in the world for women while Afghanistan found itself to dead last on the list.
