Just recently, an infographic by ASEAN Skyline shows that Kuala Lumpur has secured the 6th ranking for the Most Visited City in the World.
KL ranks 6th for more visited city
The ranking on the infographic was actually based on the Travelness website, which listed the Top 20 Most Visited Cities in the World.
According to the source, KL has now secured the 6th spot for the most visited city, a step up from our previous 7th position, welcoming 13.79 million visitors this year.
They praised Malaysia’s diverse culture and impressive skyscrapers as key attractions that lure visitors to explore the city’s charm.
“This celebration of historical and modern also shows itself in the contrasting high-fashion shopping malls and vibrant street markets. Spend your holiday scouting out designer brands and hunting down the best hawker stalls for the best of two worlds.” Travelness wrote in their website.
Furthermore, the rankings are given based on total international overnight visitor arrivals and cross-border spending.
In broader terms, this report not only identifies the most popular cities globally but also highlights the most popular tourist destinations.
Thailand takes the lead in the ranking
Besides Malaysia, two other Southeast Asian countries have secured spots in the ranking. Thailand’s Bangkok claims the top spot with 22.78 million visitors, while Singapore follows closely behind with 14.67 million visitors.
