No one likes getting stuck in a massive traffic jam, and some would find all kinds of ways to get themselves out of one, even it means breaking the law.
Malaysians were recently outraged by the behavior of a driver of a multi-purposes vehicle (MPV) which belonged to a minister, who was caught tailgating an ambulance during a massive traffic jam.
MPV belonging to M’sian minister seen tailgating ambulance
The incident was brought to light by a netizen named Fadzilah Hashim, who posted photos of the incident on Facebook.

In one of the photos, it showed the black MPV following an ambulance closely from behind in order to weave its way out of heavy traffic.
Another photo showed a closer look of the MPV’s number plate, where it bore the letters ‘AMW1’ along with the word ‘Menteri’ (minister) in capital letters.

According to the post caption, the incident allegedly took place along the North-South Expressway between Simpang Pulai and Tapah in Perak.
However, an accident caused traffic to come to a crawl, resulting in a traffic jam which would cause one to take six hours just to travel from Simpang Pulai to Tapah.
Under Malaysian law, those caught tailgating vehicles are liable to a RM1,000 fine or a jail term of up to three months.
Netizens outraged
The post later found its way to X (formerly Twitter), where it triggered a wave of condemnation from netizens.
‘Do we know which minister this car belongs to? If someone defends this unethical behavior, I don’t know what to say anymore.’

‘He can, but others cannot. #MadaniScam.’

‘Name and shame. Wrong is wrong. Most PH (Pakatan Harapan) supporters are okay with it. If it’s wrong, it’s still wrong.’

NST later reported that it reached out to the minister which the MPV allegedly belonged to but has yet to receive a reply.
