Missing M’sian Man Found Dead Without Legs, Believed To Be Attacked By Crocodile

In a harrowing turn of events, a man who was reported missing and feared to have been attacked by a crocodile while crossing a river has been discovered dead.

The victim, identified as Zulkefli Sunan, aged 52, was found lifeless with only half of his body intact by the Kalabakan Volunteer Fire and Rescue Team (PBS) at approximately 1.30pm today (March 30).

The search operation, spanning over two days, commenced at 7.23am at the location where Zulkefli was last seen.

Led by Tawau Fire and Rescue Department Chief, Jemishin Ujin, the operation involved a concerted effort utilizing boats from both the fire department and civilian volunteers, scouring a radius of one kilometer from the suspected attack site.

Despite the diligent efforts of the search team, the grim discovery was made downstream, approximately two kilometers from the initial search area.

Zulkefli’s body was found in a distressing state, with only half of his body intact, indicating a possible crocodile attack as the cause of death, according to Jemishin’s statements to Sinar Harian.

“The victim’s body was also found in an incomplete state, with only half of the body without legs believed to be due to a crocodile attack,” he said.

Following the discovery of Zulkefli’s body, authorities promptly handed over the remains to the police for further investigation and necessary procedures.
