HULU SELANGOR -A 38-year-old man from Batu Caves is believed to have sold off a Perodua Axia he rented on May 12 to another person in Kelantan.
Car rental operator Muhammad Nizamudden Mohd Abd Kadzar, who rented the Axia to the man, said he tried contacting the latter when he realised something was amiss, but to no avail.
“We even went to his house to check on him but found that the house had been vacant for a long time.”
After posting a notice of his missing car on social media, Nizamudden received word that it was spotted by members of the public in Tanah Merah, Kelantan.

Along with his brother, Nizamudden rushed over to Kelantan at 5 am on Friday (May 28) and managed to track down the car at approximately 11 am, Sinar Harian reported.
“My car was no longer driven by the original tenant, but by a 40-year-old man who claimed to have bought the car with a deposit of RM1,500.”

“He was told that the car was a ‘kereta sakit‘ (malfunctioned car) and was instructed to continue paying the instalments after obtaining the necessary documents from the so-called seller,” Nizamudden told Sinar Harian.
He also revealed that the former tenant had modified the car with tinted mirrors and altered the plate number’s size.
When asked whether the rental car had a GPS tracker, Nizammuden said it had a safety device that didn’t work.
He also believed that the former tenant had removed it before selling the car.
“The vehicle has been taken to the nearby police station for an incident report and will be taken home after everything’s completed.”
“Nevertheless, I am thankful that I found my car again, and I hope other rental car operators will be more careful to avoid the same incident,” he said.
