KUALA SELANGOR – A man disguised as a computer technician is now on the run from authorities after he was caught stealing money from a mobile phone accessory shop at Puncak Alam.
The incident occurred at around 7.15 pm last Saturday (Nov 13).
Kuala Selangor Police Chief Superintendent Ramli Kasa said the suspect, who is believed to be in his 40s, arrived at the shop claiming to be a technician from the company’s computer system division.
He then requested the salesperson on duty to provide him with the shop’s account statement and to count the amount of cash in front of him.Â
“A total of RM750 was placed on the counter after the salesperson had finished counting.
“The suspect then continued to keep the victim busy by asking him to sign a few receipts before stuffing the cash in his pocket,” he said.Â
Ramli encouraged those who could recognise the suspect from the CCTV footage to contact the police to aid investigations.
The case will be investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.
Ramli also urged business owners and workers to be on the alert for similar incidents and to contact the authorities if they encounter suspicious individuals.
