According to Ipoh Police Chief Yahaya Hassan, the incident occurred in the wee hours of the morning, when officers conducted an operation following a public complaint about racing activities.
Panic attack, not crime
He was believed to have been caught off guard by the sudden arrival of the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB).
However, it has been confirmed that the individual who fled was a member of the public who was simply spooked by the police presence while observing the operation at the scene of the incident.
During the operation, the police issued 49 summonses for various traffic offenses. The authorities have reassured the public that this operation will continue to be carried out throughout the city to curb illegal racing activities.
The public is advised not to speculate about the incident and refrain from causing any unnecessary disturbance in the community.
