Mat Rempit Who Tried To Flee From Johor Police Caught After He Left His IC Behind By Mistake

Task failed successfully.
An illegal racer, aka Mat Rempit, had his joyride and freedom brought to an end thanks to a blunder made by none other than himself by leaving his identification card (IC) behind.

This occurred during a special operation codenamed Ops Samseng Jalanan carried out by the Segamat District Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department’s Intelligence Unit (Squad 42) at 3.30am yesterday (Apr 2).

Mat Rempit leaves IC behind by mistake

According to a Facebook post by Segamat police, the suspect, who was in his 20s, was spotted engaging in illegal stunts such as wheelies and the ‘Superman’ and weaving through traffic in a dangerous manner on his Honda EX5 with several other Mat Rempits.

However, when they noticed the police car, all of the Mat Rempits scattered and fled in different directions.

As for the suspect, he abandoned his EX5 by the roadside and fled by foot but forgot to take something with him — his wallet which contained his IC and left inside a bag in the motorcycle carrier.

Arrested by police

Unsurprisingly, police were able to track down the suspect thanks to his IC and located his home which was 10 minutes away from where he abandoned his motorcycle.

When they reached the house, the police convinced the suspect’s parents to tell their son to turn himself in as he wasn’t around at the time.

At 4.20am, the suspect reported himself to the district traffic police headquarters along with his parents.

Meanwhile, a total of 44 summons were also issued out for various traffic offenses while 10 motorcycles and three cars were seized to aid investigations under  Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
