HULU SELANGOR – A 19-year-old man was pulled into a watery grave after trying to save his friend who had fallen off the Kampung Pertak bridge at in Kuala Kubu Bharu yesterday (Sept 18).
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the victim’s body discovered at around 6pm.
The department had received a call at 3.54pm prior to the arrival of the Kuala Kubu Bharu Fire and Rescue Station personnel at the scene.
“The victim tried saving his 20-year-old friend who had slipped off the bridge while taking a selfie.”
Unfortunately, he didn’t survive the incident while his friend successfully swam to safety before the fire brigade arrived,” said Norazam.
He added that search and rescue operation was carried out with the assistance of the Water Rescue Team.
Norazam also warned the public to be extra vigilant when having gatherings near rivers or dams, especially on rainy days to prevent a similar fate.
